Press-sense Business Links
Introduction
Press-sense Business Links™ enables Print Service Providers to easily integrate existing workflow management systems, such as MIS, estimating and procurement, into their Print on Demand workflow. Adding Business Links to Press-sense iWay ensures smoother system management as well as lower cross-departmental overhead and expenses. It also enables the integration of third party systems for maximum compatibility and efficiency.

The Business Links add-on module for Press-sense iWay automates the sharing of print-on-demand workflow data with disparate print business management systems, enabling the real-time update of all relevant business systems.

Like all Press-sense products, Business Links is designed for optimal fit with the majority of Print Service Provider business applications and systems. It integrates simply and smoothly with legacy business management systems, such as procurement, inventory management, accounting and MIS, and, so that all staff have direct access to up-to-date information.

The Business Links application establishes “links“ or points in the Press-sense iWay job processing workflow where specific events trigger the assembly of a data package that is communicated into the Print Service Provider’s management systems.

Business Links enables flexible data import and data export from Press-sense iWay to a third party system and back to the iWay system:

  • On-demand export of selected data to an Excel spread sheet
  • Imports pricing data from external pricing/estimating/costing MIS systems
  • Automatic login, facilitating integration with external user databases
How does iWay Business Links Work?

After a specific event initiates the process of assembling a package of event-related data, Business Links transfers the data package to a Receptor – a software module that is written by an integrator and designed to receive the package and manipulate the data stored within. Each Link is uniquely defined by the information contained in the package that it sends and by the event that initiates it. However, the Receptor can be any software module written according to the specifications provided with iWay Business Links.

Business Links supports key events in the job process workflow:
  • Request for Quotes – when Print Buyers request quotes for one or more jobs
  • Job Ordering – when Print Buyers place orders
  • Edit imposition – when Print Service Providers modify imposition parameters of any job in the production queue
  • Delivery of finished jobs – when Print Service Providers approve jobs that are ready for shipping
  • Job JDF intent – to synchronize a job intent into an MIS system
  • Customer and user synchronization interface – Optional
